Sharing Tapes Service Begins
Phil Keener of Texas, a retired radio announcer, has an excellent speaking voice, as well as skills in audio tape equipment. He and Anne Wibblesmann of Colorado have completed narrating our book, Early Writings of Herbert W. Armstrong. Phil wants to be a doer, rather than a sitter, in the work of God. Few, if any, would consider me a gifted speaker, since I stutter mildly. However, when I get really involved in what I am saying, I tend to forget my speech impediment. Such was the case when I spoke at the Friends of the Sabbath seminar at San Antonio, Texas, in December of 1995. The topic I chose was spiritual gifts. It is a shame that some churches squelch their members from exercising divine talents. I Corinthians 12 shows that every member of the assembly has been given one or more gifts of the Spirit. Our task is to discover, and use, the Almighty’s gifts. If you would like to be challenged to use your spiritual gifts, plus hear a recent, updated, description of all the material we offer, request the free audio cassette, C001, entitled "Sabbatarian Cooperation." Please ignore my poor speaking voice, but use your spiritual gifts. Work with other Sabbath-keepers; don’t be a spiritual loner.
Which Electronic Bible Is Best?
The Franklin Electronic Bible (also known as "Bookman") comes in three sizes. The pocket model is smallest, the desktop model has the biggest keyboard, and the large screen model allows up to eight lines of display. All models allow you to instantly look up scriptures, find all scriptures containing a particular word or words, change the viewing type size, add another translation or Bible game, set bookmarks of scriptures you want to instantly refer to, and many other features. The large screen size allows you to insert a second additional book, but has a smaller keyboard than the other two sizes. It provides a "speaking" feature which audibly pronounces names and places. Fractured Bible Knowledge
The following answers were given on a Bible knowledge test, originally printed in the Vancouver Sun, and then the Ann Landers column: (1) Noah’s wife was Joan of Ark. (2) Lot’s wife was a pillar of salt by day and ball of fire by night. (3) Moses went to the top of Mount Cyanide to get the Ten Commandments. (4) The seventh commandment is "Thou shalt not admit adultery." (5) Joshua led the Hebrews in the battle of Geritol. (6) Jesus was born because Mary had an immaculate contraption. (7) The people who followed Jesus were called the 12 Decibels. (8) The epistles were the wives of the apostles. (9) One of the opossums was St. Matthew. (10) Salome danced in seven veils in front of King Harrod’s. (11) Paul preached acrimony, which is another name for marriage. (12) David fought the Finkelsteins, a race of people who lived in Biblical times. (13) A Christian should have only one wife. This is called monotony.
If you believe the above is funny, or even pathetic, think again. Some material published in Sabbath-keeping circles is not much better. Although Bible knowlege is revealed by the Almighty’s Spirit, Bible Truth does not come without much perspiration along with inspiration. Get your nose in the Book!
