Passover:  14th or 15th?

Keeping the New Testament Passover on the correct day is vitally important to your spiritual life, John 6:48-58.  Some in the Church of God have polluted the faith by teaching that the Old Testament Passover was originally on the 15th day of the first month of the Hebrew Calendar.  However, the Bible is clear that Passover, Old and New Testament, is on Abib (Nisan) 14.

Fred Coulter of the Christian Biblical Church of God has recently published his book, The Christian Passover:  What Does It Mean?  When Should It Be Observed, 14th or 15th? available from Giving & Sharing.  This 303-page, attractively bound book is probably the most comprehensive study ever done on the Passover Question.  Mr. Coulter has attempted to answer every conceivable question on this important topic.  If you have any doubt in your mind about when to keep the Christian Passover, you should by all means study Mr. Coulter’s book.

The NEW Dare to Discipline

Dr. James Dobson, the world’s foremost proponent of the family, has updated his famous book, Dare to Discipline (first published in 1970, it has sold over 2,000,000 copies).  Dobson’s new, completely revised and updated version of the parenting classic is called, The New Dare to Discipline.  Whether you’re raising toddlers or teens (or know someone who is), this book helps you apply time-honored childrearing principles that are relevant today.  Dobson’s Focus on the Family radio program, is heard on more stations than probably any other religious broadcast.  Families raising children today need help based on Bible principles.  This book does that very well.

Where Did the Trinity Doctrine Come From?

Once again, in an attempt to soft pedal former spiritual understanding, the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) now tells us that the doctrine of the Trinity did not come from paganism.  In the August 25, 1992, Worldwide News article, Joseph Tkach said, “the doctrine of the Trinity did not originate in paganism, as we have traditionally taught.”  The new WCG booklet, God Is..., says that “the Holy Spirit is also God,” and, “the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are God,” and, “The Bible does reveal three entities within one Godhead — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (page 41).”  Finally, they conclude that “the Trinity doctrine has been accepted as a mystery — part of the mystery of godliness.”  On page 49, the booklet says that “upon conversion, the Christian is ‘born again’ into the kingdom of God as one of the ‘children of God’ . . . .  It is biblically inaccurate, however, to say that God is a family.”

The WCG has now accepted three major false Protestant doctrines:  Trinity, born again now (not at the resurrection), and God is not a family. It is sad to report this doctrinal departure from the Truth.

Just where did the doctrine of the Trinity come from?  Alexander Hislop, in his famous book, The Two Babylons, clearly traces the trinity doctrine back to ancient Babylon.  In chapter two, “Objects of Worship,” after 90 pages of historical evidence, Hislop concludes (page 90):

Will anyone after this say that the Roman Catholic Church must still be called Christian, because it holds the doctrine of the Trinity?  So did the Pagan Babylonians, so did the Egyptians, so do the Hindoos at this hour, in the very same sense in which Rome [the Catholic Church] does.

The Worldwide Church maligns Hislop’s scholarship.  Yet other noted scholars, such as Frazer, confirm Hislop’s accuracy.  If you would like to study the facts for yourself, read Hislop’s The Two Babylons, available from Giving & Sharing.  Don’t let other people do your thinking for you.

Why Don’t YOU Keep Christmas?

I don’t keep Christmas because:  (1) the Messiah was not born on December 25;  (2) Christmas was established by the Catholic Church, and I am not a Catholic;  (3) celebrations and customs associated with Christmas were observed by pagans long before Christ, and the Bible commands us not to follow pagan customs;  (4) the Bible does not instruct us to observe Christ’s birth, nor does it tell us when He was born.                                                                          Ω
