JOSEPH W. TKACH
August 1987
Dear Friend:
Thank you for your inquiry about determining your
third-tithe years.
The point from which to start counting one's third-tithe
years has largely been left up to the individual to determine.
However, one should begin counting soon after learning about this
tithe. Since most members of the Church learn about the third
tithe just prior to being baptized, they count from either the
Passover or the Feast of Tabernacles, whichever is closer to
their baptism. But, any convenient date is acceptable as long as
that date is used consistently.
Each person should keep track of these years to the best of
their ability. One point to keep in mind is that the third-tithe
years are the third and sixth years out of each set of seven
years following one's baptism.
If you still have questions about this subject, please feel
welcome to ask your local minister about it.
We appreciate this opportunity to be of service.
